Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has officially apologised to the chiefs of Nkroful and the people of the Nzemaland regarding his derogatory comment about Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
On Tuesday, 9th July 2024, during the unveiling of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Napo made a comment that did not go down well with the people of the Nzemaland and most Ghanaians in general were not happy.
During his speech, he stated that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had done very well than any other president, not even Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the nation’s development.
Body language and other choice of words used by NAPO sparked widespread public condemnation, compelling Dr. Prempeh to retract his words and apologise to Ghanaians.
The traditional leaders of Nkroful showed their displeasure and consequently issued a statement indicating that Napo should come to Nkroful to officially apologize to the people of the Nzemaland.

During his apology, he stated the following “I lived with Nzema people when I was growing up. Nzema people and I are one people. I will never disrespect Nkrumah in any way. anybody who attempts to disrespect Nkrumah will face the consequences of his actions.
“Nkrumah has done so much for the country. I was misconstrued, but I apologize to Ghanaians and I stand here before you to apologize for my comments again, forgive me, we’re all one people,” NAPO said.
In response, the Chief of Nkroful, Nana Kwasi Kutua accepted the apology and urged him not to sin
